Choosing Your Campervans
When it comes to choosing the right campervans for your journey, it shouldn’t be done on a whim, or based on the aesthetics of the van. Rather, the focus should be on the functionality of the van, and how the features of the van meet the needs of your upcoming journey. Anything but might prove costly and spoil what should have been a fantastic time. To put things in perspective, it is important to put the following into consideration before making a choice.
The identity of the location you will be going must be known before you pick a van. If not, you might pick one that is inadequate to cater for your needs. For example, it would be dangerous to take a van that hasn’t got a heating system to a location where the weather is extremely cold. How much can you depend on firewood? You can’t even light firewood in the van. This only highlights the importance of picking a van that can protect you from the elements of nature. Also, by knowing you destination before hand, you can research the stops along the way; where to get fuel, where camping sites exist, auto repair centres and all.
Another factor that should inform your choice should be the duration of your travel. With short travels, you can afford to choose campervans with small water capacity; on the other hand, such a choice will be at your detriment for longer durations. It’s not smart always stopping to refill water.
Size of the travelling party
When travelling alone, you can endure the lack of certain amenities. However, if you are travelling with extra bodies especially if they are family – wife and the kids, you dare not pick a van that is inadequate. Except perhaps you have a grudge against them that you’ll like to avenge. But since that is not the case, you’ll be the darling they’ve always known if you get a van that makes the whole experience cooler.
I just imagine a Chris Hemsworth with the body size of Shaquille O’Neal in a VW 1965 Barbarossa exterior. It could work, but it will be hard to manage such for a long period of time. Size is important if you are travelling for a long period of time, or planning to make the campervan a permanent resident for the foreseeable future. You want leg space, you want the bed to fit your body length; basically you want to be convenient.
Going camping with campervans is a huge undertaking, and should be well planned. Taking into consideration everything that could impact on the success of the adventure.
