Types of Plumbing Systems
Plumbing refers to the installation as well as repairing of pipes, pumps, valves, fittings, drains and fixtures for the distribution of usable water for drinking, washing, heating as well as waste removal. It is sort of a skilled trade and requires as skilful and experienced person to do the required fitting & repairing of various accessories. The person for this particular profession is called a Plumber.
There are various types of plumbing systems:
- Supply Lines- these lines carry the water from the boiler or the water tank at the rooftop of the house to the required outlets that are present in the home like kitchen, bathrooms or a place where there is a tap for water requirement. The water from the pipes come with force of pressure if it is coming down from the rooftop tank. On the other hand, the water is forced to be lifted under force of gravity if it is moving from the house pump to the tank installed at the roof and this pressure is created by the water motor, which is responsible for filling the tank with clean water. For these water movements proper supply lines are essential to deliver the water properly and efficiently at the desired outlets. The supply system is usually made of copper, PEX and PB pipes.
- Drainage System- this sort of system is responsible for carrying the waste water, faeces from the toilets and sinks to the underground pipes of the home and then it is carried to the public drainage lines. When toilets operate, water flows from them with pressure and gravity to the underground pipes. Proper drainage system should be there in the house to transfer the waste water to outside of the house. Leakage of pipes will create stink smell or bad odour which is not tolerable since waste water as well as faecal matter is involved. In order to avoid leakage of pipes, CPVC or wrought iron pipes are used.
- Vent Drains System- the type of system is the presence of vent drains in home. This sort of system is responsible for releasing the toxic gases from the drain pipes as there is no pressure build up to hamper the flow of waste water. These vents are usually provided at the roofs of houses and these are quite necessary for proper drainage system.
These three different plumbing systems are essential in every house if they work together properly in order to achieve efficient as well as well-maintained system.
